Description
Light Sea Blue is a desaturated blue-gray tone developed by the U.S. Navy for aircraft and ship camouflage during World War II. It served as the upper surface color in various air wing schemes, especially in 1943–44 tri-color applications. This hue blended with oceanic and sky backgrounds, offering concealment for naval aircraft during carrier operations in the Pacific Theater.
Light Sea Blue is included in:
Item #29384 Railroad Model Color Paint Set
Item #29433 Basic Acrylic Painting Set with Brushes, Mediums & Empty Bottles, 89-Piece

- Non-Specular Light Gray (underside)

- Fading & Wear: Light Sea Blue often faded quickly in Pacific sun and salt spray, making weathering a key modeling detail.

- WWII U.S. Navy aircraft: Accurate topcoat for carrier-based planes
- Naval vessel decks and control towers in late-war configurations
- Post-war planes: Appeared in transitional schemes before overall gloss sea blue adoption
