I bought the vise while it was marked down 25% which was very appealing to me. With the intention of using it on my Bridgeport milling machine. Much of the work I do are small model engine parts often needing angled profiles or details. The swivel base and self centering design seems like an ideal solution. My plan is to fabricate a base for the 2” vise to hold it in the 6” vise of the Bridgeport.
After unboxing the vise I was impressed with its visual appearance,nice paint and all edges smooth and nicely chamfered. Getting on to the mechanics of the vise. Jaw operation opening and closing is a little on the snug side which can be easily adjusted with the gib and adjustment screws. Very little backlash between the jaws and operating ****. The swivel post is exactly centered with the swivel base key slot. And the jaw opening centrality while not perfect is close enough to the center of the base pivot post for most of my intended use. An easy remedy would be to adjust the thickness of the top jaws for better centering.
This vise is definitely ready to be put in use as is straight out of the box. For particular users a few hours of fine tuning will result in a very useful small workpiece holding fixture.

There are other places you can get magnets like this, but I haven't found them at this particular size, which is quite handy for model railroad applications.

I'm getting back into painting miniatures and purchased this paint set to replace my old and dried out hobby paints. These acrylic paints are easy to blend on an easel, and work well with the small rounded brushes that Micromark sells. The paint thinner makes for nice washes. This selection provides a useful range of colors, I've already used most of them at least once.

I use these to shave off height of the truck bolsters on HO boxcars. They’re extremely sharp and do not crush or disfigure them. I’ve never had such a tool. You just need to use some other type on a regular basis and save these for the delicate jobs.
