Interesting product.

Interesting product. Are there any other cars planned, or available? Its a pretty short train. Its going to be interesting to see the level of detail on this model. As a follower of British Hornby, this is an interesting step forward into the US market.

Track that comes with set is a bit tight for moderate to high speeds.

Purchased this item last week. Comes with Hornby R609 curved track. This equates to 19.88-inch radius. Be aware that this radius is "minimal" for this train. The pivoting ability of the trucks on the engine are very tight for this radius. It kept "jumping the track" at moderate to higher speeds. I had to trim the plastic on the engine where the wheels hit the frame to allow a little more pivot for the wheels. With this done it runs like a champ. My advice is to run the Acela on 24-inch radius track and you should have no problems at all.

Great tool!

Good quality foam clay

Unlike any air dry clay I've used .
Very easy to manipulate , doesn't stick to your fingers .
Can be made into paper thin sheets that hold their shape .

Thick sections will take well over 24 hours to dry out ; high water weight when fresh .
Evaporation slows down considerably once the outer " crust " dries on thick pieces .

After 24 hours @ 78 degrees and about 60% humidity , the 3.1 gram sample I experimented with weighs 1.2 grams .
.. and after 48 hrs weighs just 1/2 gram ,, and I don't think it's fully dry yet .

Definitely worth the price .
Very versatile .

My only complaint is the bag it comes in .
It is a zipper lock bag but you need to remove a fair amount of the product before you'll be able to engage the zipper .
It's stuffed full when new .
I fit the bag into a plastic container ( Folgers coffee 43.5oz can ) with an inch of water at the bottom to ensure it doesn't dry out until I use enough to be able to close the bag .
Most likely keep it in that can regardless , just to be safe .

Quality miniature model paint

This stuff is comparable to Vallejo paints which everyone in the hobby already knows are tried and true. I honestly would not be able to tell the difference between the 2 brands looking at a finished model or trying to paint with it. The price is about the same but this includes slightly bigger bottles with a better design on the lid and seem to come with a plastic mixer ball already inside but its hard to tell for sure. This paint set also includes a paint thinner and cleaner for airbrushing. Its really hard to beat the price and value of this paint set for anyone wanting to have a quality paint job on something. I would say its near impossible.
