Welcome to what is arguably the most detailed model kit of the USS Constitution ever produced. This version of the kit represents the latest restoration of Old Ironsides now berthed in Boston Harbor. Our kit is entirely built with 5mm bulkhead and false keel plywood framework, then planked in basswood; the modeler's choice of fine-grained hardwood. Fittings are made of cast Britannia metal (lead-free), photo-etched parts, brass strips, brass belaying pins, and walnut blocks, and dead eyes. Rigging is jewelry quality, non-stretch nylon made in Germany and is provided in both light brown and black in 6 sizes to represent scale running and standing rigging. Plans and 96 pages of detailed step by step instructions take you from what appears to be a challenging build to a legacy-satisfying monument to your passion for building beautiful, historically accurate models. Great tool!

Good quality foam clay

Unlike any air dry clay I've used .
Very easy to manipulate , doesn't stick to your fingers .
Can be made into paper thin sheets that hold their shape .

Thick sections will take well over 24 hours to dry out ; high water weight when fresh .
Evaporation slows down considerably once the outer " crust " dries on thick pieces .

After 24 hours @ 78 degrees and about 60% humidity , the 3.1 gram sample I experimented with weighs 1.2 grams .
.. and after 48 hrs weighs just 1/2 gram ,, and I don't think it's fully dry yet .

Definitely worth the price .
Very versatile .

My only complaint is the bag it comes in .
It is a zipper lock bag but you need to remove a fair amount of the product before you'll be able to engage the zipper .
It's stuffed full when new .
I fit the bag into a plastic container ( Folgers coffee 43.5oz can ) with an inch of water at the bottom to ensure it doesn't dry out until I use enough to be able to close the bag .
Most likely keep it in that can regardless , just to be safe .

Quality miniature model paint

This stuff is comparable to Vallejo paints which everyone in the hobby already knows are tried and true. I honestly would not be able to tell the difference between the 2 brands looking at a finished model or trying to paint with it. The price is about the same but this includes slightly bigger bottles with a better design on the lid and seem to come with a plastic mixer ball already inside but its hard to tell for sure. This paint set also includes a paint thinner and cleaner for airbrushing. Its really hard to beat the price and value of this paint set for anyone wanting to have a quality paint job on something. I would say its near impossible.
