This is a true photo-resist metal etching system that employs advanced technologies and materials previously available only to industrial users. It uses your computer, an ink jet printer, and materials included in the system to achieve incredibly fine results. Virtually any small item that can be made from a flat piece of metal can be created with the Pro-Etch System in a fraction of the time it would take using other tools and methods (if it could be done at all). You can even create sophisticated 3-dimensional objects with a combination of careful design and folding of the flat photo-etched pieces. Make your own highly detailed parts for models, miniatures and instruments, jewelry, holiday decorations, engraved nameplates, craft items and hundreds of other items. The Pro-Etch System includes all the materials you need to set up your own photo-etching operation:

Specially developed, high resolution, ink jet film (two, 8-1/2 inches x 11 inches)

Photo-resist material (one, 19 inches x 12 inches)

Brass and stainless steel sheet metal (one each, 6 inches x 12 inches)

Photo-Resist Laminating machine and carrier sheets

Exposure frame and clamps

Sodium Hydroxide* developing/stripping solution (16 oz.)

Plastic developing/stripping trays

Etching tank with circulating pump

Ferric Chloride* etchant solution (16 oz.)

Pro-Etch success on first try...

While pretty involved, I successfully (on first try) made photo-etched 1/8 scale seatbelt / racing harness hardware for a project I've been working on (off and on) for almost 10 years using the Pro-Etch System. The instructions are good in detail and explanation and if followed, the process works great. I can see a lot of other uses for this kit...

Great tool!

Good quality foam clay

Unlike any air dry clay I've used .
Very easy to manipulate , doesn't stick to your fingers .
Can be made into paper thin sheets that hold their shape .

Thick sections will take well over 24 hours to dry out ; high water weight when fresh .
Evaporation slows down considerably once the outer " crust " dries on thick pieces .

After 24 hours @ 78 degrees and about 60% humidity , the 3.1 gram sample I experimented with weighs 1.2 grams .
.. and after 48 hrs weighs just 1/2 gram ,, and I don't think it's fully dry yet .

Definitely worth the price .
Very versatile .

My only complaint is the bag it comes in .
It is a zipper lock bag but you need to remove a fair amount of the product before you'll be able to engage the zipper .
It's stuffed full when new .
I fit the bag into a plastic container ( Folgers coffee 43.5oz can ) with an inch of water at the bottom to ensure it doesn't dry out until I use enough to be able to close the bag .
Most likely keep it in that can regardless , just to be safe .

Quality miniature model paint

This stuff is comparable to Vallejo paints which everyone in the hobby already knows are tried and true. I honestly would not be able to tell the difference between the 2 brands looking at a finished model or trying to paint with it. The price is about the same but this includes slightly bigger bottles with a better design on the lid and seem to come with a plastic mixer ball already inside but its hard to tell for sure. This paint set also includes a paint thinner and cleaner for airbrushing. Its really hard to beat the price and value of this paint set for anyone wanting to have a quality paint job on something. I would say its near impossible.
