Bristles feed out like a mechanical pencil.Micro-Mark has a number of scratch brush pens and brushes. We sell mini brushes such as above with brass and we also have fiberglass brushes and steel brushes. These are ideal to clean before soldering, to remove paint, or rust. The steel and fiberglass will aggressively remove particles while the brass is softer. These replacement brushes work with item number 14343

Looks simple enough but the price is outrageous

When preparing rails for soldering, usually use a small moto tool and a buffer wheel or pad. This works fine. This thing looks simpler and easier to use, but it seems a bit rough for NS rail. I will try it and let you know how well it works. If it doesn't clean well or tends to scratch too much, i can always use it for distressing wood or plastic telephone poles. BTW the price is way too high for what is essentially a pencil with brass lead, and i bought the lower cost model. The refills cost almost as much. Not sure if the utility is worth the price. Will let you know in an update.
