Keddie Roundhouse Kit, HO Scale, By Scientific

This HO scale Keddie Roundhouse is a replica of the iconic building on the Western Pacific line near the Keddie Wye in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. This four-stall basswood laser-cut roundhouse kit was designed by Donald Becker of Scientific Models (SMI) and is manufactured at the Berkeley Heights, New Jersey facility. The HO design was created from the original blueprints from the Western Pacific Railroad company.

The roundhouse is named for Arthur Keddie, who purchased the survey rights to, and the right to build a railroad through, the Feather River Canyon. In 1909, the Western Pacific Railroad (now part of the Union Pacific) built the line that completed the route from San Francisco to Salt Lake City, providing an alternate route to the Donner Pass. The roundhouse provided service to 2-6-6-2 locomotives, reflective of the Golden Age of steam engines.
